Gift the Value of Your Gift to the Baltic Sea
The Baltic Sea is one of the world’s most delicate and polluted seas, suffering particularly from eutrophication. Overfishing, oil transport, increasing shipping traffic, and climate change also threaten our beloved sea. In Finland, especially the Baltic Sea’s coastal waters are in poor condition, with nutrients from agriculture and forestry contributing significantly to eutrophication. We are working uniquely to save the Baltic Sea both on land and at sea, domestically and internationally. Our goal is to restore the Baltic Sea to a good ecological state and to ensure healthy, resilient, and vibrant ecosystems.
Thank you for helping us protect the Baltic Sea!

The Baltic Sea is one of the most sensitive and polluted seas in the world. WWF, for example:
- Trains and maintains oil response teams that, in the event of an accident, take action to clean oil-contaminated shores and birds.
- Builds wetlands that help reduce eutrophication in the Baltic Sea.
- Helps protect the Baltic ringed seal by conducting artificial nesting site trials and seal surveys.
- Works to influence fisheries policy to end overfishing and illegal fishing.
- Encourages consumers to make responsible seafood choices.
