The soft Unikko wool rug is adorned with one of Marimekko’s most iconic patterns. Created by Maija Isola, Unikko has been in continuous production since its design in 1964 and is recognized worldwide as a design classic.

This timeless rug is suitable for the living room, dining area, or bedroom. Made from high-quality 100% New Zealand wool, the floral pattern on the rug’s surface is tufted, and its backing is made of polypropylene and latex. Care for the rug by gently vacuuming without using the brush attachment and airing it out as needed. For stains, use a damp cloth to gently blot the area. Full cleaning should be done professionally at a dry cleaner.

The Unikko rug is manufactured by Brink & Campman and is part of a collection created to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Unikko pattern, featuring some of Marimekko’s most iconic designs.

Due to the weight and size of the package, we recommend selecting home delivery. Rugs are not delivered to Marimekko stores, and returning a rug to a store is not possible.

The Story Behind the Pattern Unikko

Maija Isola created the Unikko pattern, a global icon of pattern design, in 1964. Marimekko’s founder, Armi Ratia, believed that the true essence of flowers could not be captured in a pattern, which is why flowers were not previously included in Marimekko’s collections. Maija Isola, however, was intrigued by the floral theme and decided to design a whole series of bold, new floral patterns. Today, Unikko is a powerful symbol of joy and creativity and an essential part of Marimekko’s design identity.
