The Genelec 8020D is specifically designed for environments where space is limited. However, its small size does not hinder high-performance output, as the 8020D utilizes all the technological innovations of the award-winning Genelec 8000 series, which has won the MIPA Award (Music Industry Press Award).

The 8020D features a pressure-cast aluminum Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) cabinet, which allows for a very large internal volume relative to the speaker’s size. The cast structure is mechanically robust and acoustically rigid, and the softly rounded corners of the enclosure eliminate reflections caused by the sharp edges of traditional speaker cabinets.

The 8020D also includes a newly designed Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) that is shaped around the tweeter. This provides an exceptionally flat frequency response both on-axis and off-axis. The long and curved reflex port terminates in an expanding opening at the back of the speaker, resulting in precise bass reproduction without disturbing flow noises. Thanks to these solutions, the 8020D offers exceptional stereo imaging accuracy and bass performance for its size.

With the new power supply and automatic power management, the 8020D’s standby power consumption has been kept extremely low.
