Description

Leuku is a large traditional knife that has been used in the Nordic regions for centuries. Also known as the stuorra niibi, the name literally means “large knife” in the Sámi language. Large Lapland leuku knives are commonly used like a brush hook or machete for chopping and splitting firewood around the campfire. A smaller leuku, on the other hand, is an excellent choice for butchering and slicing meat.

Like all Marttiini knives, the leuku should be maintained and sharpened regularly. Its stainless chromium steel blade can be easily sharpened with a diamond sharpener.

This leuku features a robust construction, with both a sturdy handle and a heavy-duty blade. The stainless chromium steel blade and leather sheath are decorated with traditional Lapland-inspired patterns. The beautifully figured curly birch handle is ergonomically shaped to provide a secure and comfortable grip.
