The knife master from Kauhava, Reino Kamppila, handcrafts Ahti knives together with his son Janne. Kamppila has decades of experience in knife making, which is evident in the well-considered design and exceptionally fine finishing of the knives.
The raw material for the black-sided blades is a vanadium-carbon steel alloy. Vanadium enhances the properties of the knife blade by making it tougher and stronger.
The knife sheath is sewn from strong, handle-toned bullhide leather, adorned with handsome patterns. Inside the sheath, there is a secure leather plug that prevents the blade from piercing through the wet sheath.
The handle material used is the traditional Finnish curly birch for knives. It is durable, exceptionally beautiful, and provides a firm grip.
